Northumberland County is placed on the northerly shore of Lake Ontario, in eastern Ontario, Canada. Situated east of Durham County (currently a Regional Municipality of Durham), west of Hastings, southwest of Kawartha Lakes and south of Peterborough County. A county courthouse is Cobourg. Together by using Durham County, it formed the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham from 1800 to 1973.
It was 1st sharply settled by United Empire Loyalists fleeing the previous 13 British American Colonies in the late 18th century. a Crown provided plots to a settlers for even nominal sums (by using a stipulation of making the land productive around a placed total of years) or gratuitous to people world health organization experienced served against the Western Colonial Army.
